This series is a points race series. No individual prizes for each race. At the end of the series the points winners in EACH Class will get trophies for the top 3 in each class.

The overall times are posted for people to see how they ranked overall against every body regardless of class.

Overall meaning they have won the most points for the entire series per class.

Not Overall meaning against everybody.

I have to hand it to our newer members that are stepping out of their comfort zones and doing the autocross deed! cheers

Edd Lacuata in his WRB STi and Darrel Cabrera in his AT Impreza were haulin @55 on Sunday! Twisted Evil Exclamation afro affraid

There's a difference between just finishing and finishing like these guys did. I was watching their lines and how they transitioned from corner to corner and I liked what I saw! Of course there is room for improvement but my point is that for these new-comers to come out and hit it like they've been doing it for quite some time now impressed me Cool and I like that! It's neat to have several Subies out there in force and putting up a good show for our spectators and participants alike.

Just more practice in brake points, clean up the lines a bit, some tire reading and adjustments, and honing their AWD driving skills and they'll be smashing my times! Dammit!!! Mad seriously though, good job Edd and Darrel! Especially in factory suspension trim and tires you have, you're on a great direction. Awesome! cheers

I also saw the black STi during fun runs and he was moving at a fast clip too! Hope to see you out there next event Smile

I encourage more SCG drivers to come out and try, seriously!

Thanks for the inspiring words Jess, now i have to out run the 08 WRB WRX, thanks. July 5th was my second go at the track... I was hesitant at first because of all the cones. By doing autox i now know what my car is capable of doing on dry and wet roads above normal speed...I know my car can break 60 sec on dry and do better on wet with better suspension and a little more practice on the AT trans.... Frank (STI) and Rob (EVO) looked pretty good out their for their first run... I sure hope to see more of our Subies out there...Still looking foward to that Subie class.... primary target 08 WRB WRX....Just playing... I enjoyed that day wet and slippery.

Thanks Jesse...Yet another learing experience, have to say that wet weather driving in an AWD is really fun. Really wanted to see you run with the slicks though. The practice runs you had on them were real quick and it looked like you had major grip + your ride looked mean with Jay's gold BBS's. Also having helped with swaping your wheels and Darrell's exhaust was just as fun / SCG PIT Crew? Despite the heavy sideways rain squalls and not meeting up with the majority of SCG it was a great day at the track. It was good to see Frank dipp his foot into the pond and give it a try. By the smile on his face you know he'll be back + Kelly supports him so much. I honestly think that SCG should make the auto X events a club meet. Support the subies who run as well as hang on a sunday afternoon and smile.... Cool

Even though I do not race on official race days I enjoy watching the Subies win although I have to be neutral.

Jay / Jesse,

With Jesse's comments regarding factory spec's, I was wondering if i was to upgrade my suspension (springs & sway bars only), will this change my class from ST to SM? If so should i wait until the next series to make the upgrade?

Thanks,
Edd

Edd, yes you would end up in SM Class if you do those upgrades now. If I could redo what I did. I would have kept my car stock and stayed in ST class for at least a year. When I got my car they placed me in SM class even though it was stock so I had no choice but to upgrade to be able to compete in SM class. The rules have changed now so you are in ST. You could be fast in ST class and compete for the fastest time of the day. A perfect example is Vlad, S class but still competitive overall.

The only thing that I like in SM is being able to have all the parts that I want. My skills and reflexes are not that great so I make that up with my car.

Just my 0.02 cents

Thanks Jay. This puts to rest any thoughts i had about doing it now. Hopefully there are plans for more test & tune days at the track. Then i may consider jumping the division after more track time, cause we all know how hard it is to stay away from them sparkling, shiney, brand new parts. affraid

Echoing Jay's advice, stay in ST for now this way you have a really good chance of earning a top spot. Either way you hone your skills and get to know your car for what it is from the factory and will be able to gauge how your mods affect your outcomes when you decide to plunge into installing parts Smile I can tell you from my experience that my WRX is a night and day difference and my most profound results were from tires. Everyone told me this prior to installing them but I wanted to become as fast as I could without them; it really pushed me to learn how my car handles on such cr@ppy tires and soft/spongy suspension Suspect but I wouldn't trade this experience for any part that I have or can get because of what it had taught me.

Probably the only thing I can recommend (aside from practice) in your case is a decent wheel alignment (more aggressive than stock) so you benefit from it's cornering potential and you lengthen the life of your nice tires Cool otherwise you'll scrub down the shoulders real quick and have to rotate them quite more often than you would like to. There's more bite in those tires and more cornering ability, just need to bring it out cheers

Autox wheel alignment = low cost, longer tire life (cornering), less struggling on course, mad props when you adapt to it and corner like a mutha!

Downside is increased inner tire wear from (-) camber in daily driving and a bit harsher ride quality because the wheel centerline is more parallel to the strut transmitting more of the bump forces into the car body....oh well!!!Twisted Evil

Thanks Jesse. Both yours and Jay's advise are greatly appreciated. I will remain in the ST division for now and hopefully gain the knowledge and skill to upgrade myself, car, division as well as a top spot. It just hard to not want to upgrade, especially after reading / hearing positive feedback on part upgrades, plus watching such rides as yours and jays, only makes one want to be and do better. Ohhh them sparkling, shiney, new parts....Plus what are all these tools for (as the wife would say). It will be hard but im sticking with the advise given. Thanks again guys...

What JM suggested is great advice the alignment means a lot. This is one of the best secrets without moving installing major parts. Too bad we do not have access to an alignment machine but there are some DIY ways to get an alignment.

True. However the downside of the alignment change is something i need to make note of as this is a daily driver.

From what I heard is that camber will not affect how fast your tires wear but it will affect how it wears between the inside and the outside. But Toe would wear your tires faster but it gives you a more positive feel and quicker turn ins.

I think JM would know more about this.
