Re: 2009 Monsoon Race Series
Hehehe, reminds me of when I was over there at Commercial Tire. Some lady called for a set of tires. He told her the price and apparently she asked if there is any discount. He said "Discount?! For what? Buy 50 tires and I will talk to you about discount." I'm guessing she said she didn't need 50 tires because he said "Well ask your family and buy them all together then we can talk about a discount." We were cracking up the whole time!!!
He hangs up and is was like "She want's a discount for 4 tires! She's crazy." He's a funny guy!

Re: 2009 Monsoon Race Series
hahahahah, sounds like typical Mr. Hertslet. When I was working at Triple J I asked to order a set of V710's for me but in 2 years they never odered them. Kumho is a great tire, great value and they last forever. Dunlops are good tires as well but from experience the sidewalls cracked on my wifes car maybe because they were old.
Tire Rack is good and reasonable, mounting/balancing is like $20 per tire at Proline.

Jay, he was at the Uphill challenge when they had it at Ritidian. He would be a valuable resource for info later on. He also mentioned a nice road that goes down to the UOG hatchery or whatever in Mangilao. Used to be the road that went to Perez Bro's quarry. He called them up and Perez Bro's said they sold the land. So it's private road but unpaved. Good ideas for future events.

hahaha, I know Mr. Hertslet for a long time. I bought an MGB from him before as well as Jensen Healy. He knows a lot about cars too. Before Triple J he used to own Airport Auto which services european cars. Nice guy but just too much BS sometimes. he used to race with Ed Cruz, Henry Simpson, etc.

tires
a very hard decision D, and I really think you will be happy with your decision. I too was in a debate with Hankook, Dunlop, Kumho, Yokohama, Nitto, etc.
Layed it out
Really wanted to try the Nittos NT05 heard these tires were really good for autox. And the price was reasonable.
But overall happy with Dunlop.

Re: 2009 Monsoon Race Series
I too am happy with my Star Specs
For the money you can't find a tire that beats it within the price range. Only read about the Kumhos but judging by the feedback the wet-weather performance is a little less forgiving than the Z1s. I'm willing to try them though, super soft and just meets the rules for our region. If price was no object I may be willing to try the Advans but I'm not a deep-pocketed racer

Re: 2009 Monsoon Race Series
This course will atke some of the HP advantage away from the EvoX, but he'll have AWD too, so it'll be interesting. A near bottom DCCD setting might be better here

This is my wish, I had to go to the states and drive thru snow for 110 miles each way and then work a whole day in freezing temperatures.
It states in the SCCA Solo Handbook that the Safety Steward can not race on sanctioned events, there has to be an alternate safety steward.
You can just imagine how hard it is for me to sit this one out.

Thanks to you we are all enjoying the benifits of your accomplishments. I feel for you, especially when we are having all the fun and you have to watch all our runs with your subie sitting by your side...must be hard for the both of you! If and when you have authorization to train Stewards on island, sign me up and i'll watch while you race!
Re: 2009 Monsoon Race Series

Re: 2009 Monsoon Race Series
Hope to make it, I'll have to fight the familia events, but the course looks inviting Still think the scales are a bit tipped, but whatever I don't agree with "Dom" in Fast and Furious, it's not winning...it's the doing that's fun All Subies, if you don't/can't race...just come on out and support, show off your rides, and be a part of it all
