FT-86 oooooooohhhhhhhhh myyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!
I'm sure you've all seen some rendition of this mysterious Subaru / Toyota love-child that has been on-again-off-again over the past couple years
Now, here it is in a very close-to-production version but hopefully it comes to fruition under current market conditions I have been awaiting this model for a long time and when you see it I think you'll understand why
http://www.motortrend.com/auto_shows/tokyo/2009/112_0910_toyota_ft_86_concept/photo_15.html
I would love a torquey-flat-four with awesome NA response in an FR layout and a tuned suspension for some sunny and hot days

Wow That's nice I'd buy one if I had the money...and it had a Flat 4 Boxer engine with Asymetrical AWD and came in Black on Black

Although the Toyota branded Suabru built FT-86 concept is ready to show at the Tokyo Motor Show...Subaru is hoping to have a similar version which will fly the Subaru Brand...See http://www.scoobyblog.com/2009-10-08/subarus-version-of-toyota-tf-86-toyobaru-subayota
Re: FT-86 oooooooohhhhhhhhh myyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!
I have always been brand loyal...so I'll have to wait for the Subaru

Re: FT-86 oooooooohhhhhhhhh myyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!
This FT-86 oozes FUN! I'm hoping that it's just a simplified raw car that goes back to basics: low cost, performance car for the enthusiast, powertrain, drivetrain, and suspension with massive potential, and without the ridiculous 'e-nanny' babysitter sniping at your ear & shutting you down for every spirited maneuver you attempt......I really hate that
I wish it went as far as having a real throttle cable as opposed to a drive-by-wire arrangement and NOT direct fuel injection. Cruise control?!?!?!? Who needs that in a purist car?!? I'm already kinda cringing seeing the manual trans shift indicator on the cluster but a 6-speed RWD is a good start provided it's from the Subie gods matched behind Subie boxer technology. Get this retailing for under $20k and they will have a WINNER whether Toyota or Subaru badged!!
Wishful thinking but I'll find out soon enough and update you guys from first-hand knowledge

Re: FT-86 oooooooohhhhhhhhh myyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!
Hi guys. I don't think this would be an under $20K car, if it was under $20K then imagine comparing it to a Scion TC which one would you get?....Heard from FLD reports it was going to be in the $25K and up range to go up against Nissan's 370Z and Mazda's RX's...It was in one of those links to subie.tv. Very nice though....hmmmmm But still i wish it was under $20K...so we can have more fun.

If the second site is the new Subaru sedan, than that is one ugly looking car, it looks deformed. Are u sure they are not making the movie "Cars".

CONFIRMED: 216A Subaru's iteration of Toyota's FT-86. You can definitely see the resemblance in the design partnership.

I really like this but may be more inclined to get the FT-86 for the FR layout revival. I miss my old '85 Corolla GT-S. The 216A is a beautiful car in its own respect.
