Headlight adjustment

How many of you have been driving it at night and wished your headlights projected a bit further down the road, so you have time to dodge that pothole at 80mph?

04-07 Subarus have a headlight adjustment mechanism behind the headlight bulb area. Look down into the area and find a round slotted hole, where a screwdriver looks like it would fit. At the end of the slot is a round wheel with jagged teeth.

The end of a large philips screwdriver is used to turn the wheel, which lowers or raises the light beam.

Park on a flat surface in front of a wall, about 25 feet away. Mark the top of your light beam projection on the wall with tape. Use that as a reference to lower or raise your headlight beam.

That's it. As a plus for STI drivers, if the beam is too high while driving, use the in cabin adjustment knob to lower the beam.

Good night vision is paramount to safe, quick, aggressive driving at night.

hey, thanks for the great tip. been wondering thou i know that there the high beam and low when shifting the lights doesn't that affect the oncoming traffic? and how about using hid or other type of headlight lens to help further the beam.

just my thoughts.
