Oil catch can install
Wanted to know if anybody's got a oil catch can install (07 STI) and if so what route of plumbing did you choose...I've got a single can to install and wanted to compare plubming routes....Here is one route i can go, but just wanted to see more options. Thank you for your time.
Re: Oil catch can install

Air / Oil Separator - Top Mount Intercooler, 08 STI | |
Drawing on our 35 years of racing knowledge, the Crawford Closed Loop Air/Oil Separator was engineered and designed to keep all the oil where it belongs, inside the motor. The Air/Oil Separator solves a simple problem from the manufacturer; it transfers the oil back into the engine via the block not the intake. This not only keeps the vehicle within specs of smog but keeps the oil from coating the tops of the pistons. We all know what that does to any tune you have; it causes detonation, a very bad thing for turbo engines. So if you want to keep your engine running consistently and strong for years to come make sure you install a race and street proven product from leaders in the industry. Re: Oil catch can install
If you plan on driving your STI hard (which you should), I consider this a must install. Both Jay and I can attest to oil, moisture and blow-by gas entering the intake. After my break in period, i opened up my subie and drove her like i stole her and upon doing self maintenance found oil at the base of the intake manifold where it connects to the inter-cooler. After seeing that, this was one of the first buys i made and after 4 auto cross races, i can honestly say it was well worth it! No more oil entering the intake...it just collects in the can.

Yes Dhonn "IF" your gonna push that hatch to its limits, you should invest in a catch can. Like what Ed stated, it's well worth spending the money.

Re: Oil catch can install
Dhonn push your car this Sunday and inspect your intercooler after . But if you wanna go faster, put you magnet on both sides of you car and watch the 09 STI go from 0-60 in 2.5 sec and bump up the hp from 305 to 320 Spec C hp.
Just remember Dhonn, Drive it like you stole it. or pretend that there is an EVO X or Mazda Speed3 tailing you or Cabrez99 is creeping up on you fast.
