Re: 2009 Monsoon Race Series
My suggestion is be there early print the registration forms and I will tech your cars and you can go after that so you have time to find your line. Practice is not just knowing the course it is also finding the fastest line for your driving style and what is the fastest speed you can take portions of the course.

Thanks Jay...Makes getting there early worth it...
Re: 2009 Monsoon Race Series
Yeah for sure! I've never seen anything like this course before. I will TRY and wake up on time for the next one... But a dude as ugly as me needs ALL the beauty sleep he can get! Even if it's not working.

Re: 2009 Monsoon Race Series
I think lots of practice needs to take place on the infield turns. Aside form a proper line to maintain your speed (momentum) you need to feel for your tire's limits on these turns most especially because they are off-camber and slope towards Navasca slalom. This is what messes with your head in this area of the course (any course at that parking lot) and your speed judgment is thrown off when you try to initiate a turn and the car slides out/understeers much sooner than you anticipate. That right sweeper in the infield is the one that's going to determine your tire pressure/sidewall roll-over point I think; looks fast and that left front tire is going to do alot of work this next course! Rotate your tires people! Get the best outer tread on your front tires (especially left) and manage your tire wear so as not to prematurely kill your tires' shoulders...make 'em, last the whole series!
Note: with that off-camber portion of the parking lot, you are at least on a 2-degree disadvantage for camber depending on how much body roll your car has and how hard you take those turns. Even with my alignment specs I just break even and am back to stock mechanical advantage because of this, every little bit counts my recommendation is to turn that WHOLE infield into a long sweeper from the time you pass the intersection....careful! Lots of speed and you will have to straighten the wheel quickly & smoothly to brake in a straight line before 90-degree right hander. Trail braking before the 90-degree may cost you an oversteer correction situation which you break your line and waste time correcting...maybe coast is best here, depends on your car's balance & your skill. Having a passenger to keep body roll to a minimum on that sweeper may be a strong consideration...remember left side is heavier; driver, battery, off-camber (fuel on one side), other fluids....do what you can to offset this or manage your traction wisely.
This is where you drive smart: take other flat areas very quick and smooth to try and make up your losses at the off-camber areas because you inherently have to slow down and take those turns more conservatively to keep a smooth line. Late brake, coast instead of brake when you can, accelerate early and smoothly so as not to break traction and upset your suspension and lose time gained.
Early is better but don't kill your tires before the main event!

Re: 2009 Monsoon Race Series
^^^^np 07GDJ25, anytime I can help I will try. I have a copy of the next course that I'm still working on to interpret the "line" and will show accelerate, coast, and brake points that I would use based on observation but of course that could change on the course in actual practice.
I'll email it to everyone who has an email addy in the contact info thread; don't want to post it because others that have public access to our forum can see this too don't want the competition getting an edge right!?!
Color....hmmmm. It's been pretty hard to choose one to set me apart lately since the new forum background; blue kills my eyes in 2-words, green helps but still is a problem 'eh? I guess for the sake of all, WHITE is what I'll make it for now....no individuality I guess

Re: 2009 Monsoon Race Series
Hi all,
I just emailed the course map with my "line" and other braking point suggestions etc. to those I have seen at the recent series by using the email addresses in the contact info thread.
Check it out and let me know if is helps you. I'll try to answer as many questions as possible to assist those that need some clarification or have general questions. I didn't post for obvious trolling reasons
Some areas are left blank for you to interpret the slalom and start/finish for example.
