2010 Time Attack Fundraiser

This is a 2 lap timed event which will take place at the Guam Inetrnational Raceway park main parking lot. half of the net proceeds generated by this event will be donated to the UPI ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PTO for their various projects.

When: April 11, 2010
Practice Runs: 10:00 to 1:00
Drivers meeting: 1:10- 1:25
Timed Runs: 1:30

Looks like a Beetle/Volkswagon club might make an appearance at UPI...a co-worker is getting his beetle ready for the show.

I hope to get my Mini ready by then

You gonna bring two cars Jay? Just make sure you bring the Subie because we need the same numbers we pulled last time. Hopefully, everyone will step up for this event like last year.

I will be there after class...bout 4:30...Im hoping it will end earlier...We will need to test and tune the event...

This is a call to all of our members (dues paid or not) and friends...We need help mostly on the day of the event and if your willing the evening before...Show your Subie Pride and help in making this event successful for everyone!

Saturday at about 5:00 pm is fine. I will bring the tent and the cones and a map of the course. I hope on Sunday the timing system is set-up on time. I have invited quite a few people to watch and probably race. Let's all pitch in.

It would be best if we can buy a can of temporary marking paint, this would last us for a while.

We have to set the rules alreasdy for this.

4 timed runs? 1 warm up lap and then 2 laps per timed run? 2 timed runs clockwise and then 2 timed runs counter clockwise?

Any suggestions we have ti be sure we set the rules straight before the event and stick by it for this one.

We also need some kind of PA system, any suggestions?

I like the two runs clockwise and then two runs counter-clockwise idea.

Practice runs should be for those that come before timed runs.

Once timed runs begin, then it's all time runs. That way the early birds get the worms.

Don't have a PA system.

Saturday night is hard for me but I should be there the usual early time Sunday. My in-laws have a funeral soon, not sure when exactly, but don't think it is this weekend.

The course looks simple enough and not too complicated.

Anybody who wants to help set-up should be there around 5:00 pm today!

Course is fast, it's showtime!

What a huge success, thank you to all of the SCG people that helped out and came to support. We had more spectators than participants this is rarely seen in a supposedly autocross event.

I think the time attacks will be more popular it shows, suspension, tires, brakes, driver, tune, etc. in short it shows a complete all around package of what a car and driver can do.

Although my arms are sore, it was all worth it. Now let's go for the show! April 16

The Time Attack was a HUGE success I think. There was a good racer turn out, not as much as could be but when the word about our Time Attack and QuarterCross get out, the racers, the true racers will come.

It was good having a large spectator group, being represented by the Scion, Mazda, and Upi Elementary School. I am glad to see that other car clubs are joining in on our events. Besides we now have a friend in Mitsu, Porsche, Honda, Dodge, yeah Jay I'm talking about you

Thanks to all the SCG for coming out. Your appearance and participation rekindled my faith in this group and hopefully it rekindled your love for the Subie.

The next big thing is the Upi Car Show. All that can commit, please do and represent our club. After that is the 18th Smoking Wheels event. I won't talk about these here because they should be in a separate posting somewhere else.
